CYPRUS STAMPS - 9 October 2024

NOTE - these are THREE individual stamp issues and will be listed separately.
"60 Years of Social Insurance". A single stamp.
"800 Years since the awarding of Commandaria". One miniature sheet.
“150 years Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU)". A single stamp.

Each issue will be available in MINT, CTO/USED and on Post Official Official FDC.
The Social Insurance and UPU stamp issues will also be available in sheets of 8 stamps.

g) "60 Years of Social Insurance". A single stamp.

Article 9 of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus provides that every citizen has the right to "social security and a decent existence". This provision was set into practice with the pension reform 1964 which rendered the social insurance system universal for all workers in the country.

h) "800 Years since the awarding of Commandaria". One miniature sheet.

Commandaria is a treasure of the Cypriot land, the first and only Cypriot wine with a Protected Designation of Origin, considered to be one of the oldest in the world. A wine with long history and tradition, which this year completes 800 years since its great award event, with the first prize in the International Wine Competition "La Bataille des Vins", held in 1224, under the high patronage of King Philippe of France.

i) “150 years Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU)". A single stamp. 

In 2024 the Universal Postal Union (UPU) celebrates 150 years of life. It was founded in 1874 and is based in Bern, Switzerland. It's the second oldest international organisation with 192 member countries.

Available as a single stamp: MINT, CTO/USED, Post Office Official FDC and in sheets of 8 stamps.

NORTH CYPRUS STAMPS - 30 September 2024

"Fight against Pine Processionary Insects". Comprising: 4 stamps of different values.

Available on Cyprus Stamps website as: a set of 4 stamps, Sets of 4 Full Sheets, each containing 16 stamps and a single Post Office Official First Day Cover (FDC).

The pine processionary moth has reached a critical threshold of damage to pine forests. Factors such as climate change, forest fires and habitat loss have led to rapid and significant increases in the harmful population.
A healthy population of species like the Eurasion hoopoe and great tit, when evenly distributed throughout the forests, serves as a natural balance in controlling the pine processionary moth, especially during the breeding season.
The Forestry Department has been collaborating with Taşkent Nature Park since 2022 to the reproduction of the parasitic fly Phryxe caudata as well as to attract and promote populations of the Calosoma sychophanta beetle, both species of insects as a natural control of the pine processionary moth and its caterpillar.
